Overview
Understanding Your Condition
Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, which can be 'C'-shaped or 'S'-shaped when viewed from the back. The curvature can occur in different parts of the spine and vary in severity. It can develop in childhood (idiopathic) or later in life due to various underlying conditions.

Causes & Types
- Idiopathic scoliosis: most common; no known cause, often develops during adolescence.
- Congenital scoliosis: present at birth from abnormal vertebrae formation.
- Neuromuscular scoliosis: caused by cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or spinal cord injury.
- Degenerative scoliosis: later-life degeneration of discs and joints.
Common Symptoms
- Uneven shoulders or hips.
- Uneven or asymmetrical waistline.
- Prominent ribs on one side when bending forward.
- Mild to severe back pain, especially with degenerative or untreated cases.
How We Can Help
- Chiropractic BioPhysics adjustments to improve spinal alignment and curvature.
- Customized therapeutic exercises to strengthen supporting muscles.
- Posture correction and bracing guidance when appropriate.
- Regular monitoring and progress tracking.
- Soft tissue therapy to address muscle imbalances.
Prevention & Management
- Early detection and monitoring, especially in adolescents.
- Maintain strong core and back muscles.
- Practice good posture.
